Saturday, May 17, 2025, I wandered down to the Clarksville Downtown Market, a weekend ritual I’ve grown to love since moving to Tennessee. The place was buzzing with live music, handcrafted goods, and farm-fresh produce. But one booth in particular caught my eye — Firefly Farm out of Indian Mound, TN.

That’s where I met William Peacher, co-owner of Firefly Farm. Together with his wife Courtney, they run a beautiful operation focused on sustainability and seasonal eating, growing over 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables. But what really grabbed me was a jar of Hot Pickles perched on the table, calling my name.
Now, my wife is a culinary critic and self-proclaimed pickle connoisseur, so I grabbed a jar for her — hoping I wasn’t about to commit pickle blasphemy.
Verdict? Pickle Perfection.
She took one bite and gave me “that look.” The good one. These pickles struck an ideal balance: not too sweet, not too spicy — just tangy, crisp, and full of flavor. According to her, they’re a secret weapon for:
- Pulled pork sandwiches (sliced thin for that perfect bite)
- Spicy pickle slaw to cut through rich BBQ
- Or just eating them straight from the jar like the Southern delicacy they are
